TV Mounting in Sacramento: what to expect
A standard mount onto a stud wall is quick work. What changes the job in this area is the wall itself.
Newer builds in Natomas, Elk Grove and El Dorado Hills often have a stone, tile or stacked-veneer feature wall above the fireplace, and that tends to be the wall people want the TV on. Those walls call for masonry bits, anchors long enough to reach solid backing behind the veneer, and a route for the cables — usually outside the wall or through an adjacent cavity rather than straight through.
Pre-war homes in Midtown and East Sacramento present the opposite problem. Lath-and-plaster will not hold a mount on its own, and stud spacing in older framing is frequently irregular, so the framing has to be located before anything is drilled.
Cost depends on screen size and weight, the wall type, whether cables are concealed, and whether an outlet needs relocating. Concealing cable inside an insulated exterior wall or across a firebreak is not always possible, and a surface raceway is the usual alternative.

TV Mounting Questions
Usually possible on an interior drywall wall. It is not always achievable through an insulated exterior wall or across a firebreak, and not at all where there is no cavity. The alternative is a paintable surface raceway, which looks better than most people expect. Which applies is worth establishing before anything is drilled.
Often, but two limits apply. Surface temperature above a working fireplace has to stay within the TV manufacturer's rating, and the viewing angle becomes uncomfortable if the screen sits well above eye level from normal seating. Both are worth checking before committing to that position.
It has to match the TV's VESA hole pattern and weight rating. Full-motion arms put considerably more leverage on the wall than a fixed mount, so they need solid stud fixing and take longer to install. The TV model determines what fits.
